This special issue aims to highlight the latest advances in Ribosomally Synthesized and Post-Translationally Modified Peptides (RiPPs) research, spanning fundamental studies to applied biotechnology. We welcome research and review papers that cover the following areas: 1) Discovery and characterization of novel RiPPs 2) Elucidation of unprecedented enzymatic transformations in biosynthesis of RiPPs 3) Genome mining and bioinformatics approaches to discovery of RiPPs 4) Engineering and combinatorial biosynthesis of RiPPs 5) Applications of RiPPs in drug discovery, antimicrobial resistance, and biotechnology Through this collection, we aim to provide a timely overview of researches on RiPPs and inspire future investigations in this rapidly growing field.
