And it is this state of anxiety that has encouraged many so-called “developed” countries to close in on themselves, erecting illusory borders to create a false sense of security, hoping that they can maintain their comfortable lifestyles and enjoy “another 30 to 40 years of privileges.”2 This can be an answer to the question of how, in recent years, Western societies have seen sovereigntist parties rise to power, such as Trump’s Republican Party in America, the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom, and Meloni’s nationalist party in Italy.
