After investigating the intralingual unassisted subtitling process from different perspectives, which corresponds to the first intralingual workflow in the model presented in chapter 3, the second study conducted for this thesis focuses on an intermediate step in subtitling: transcription for subtitling. Here, the question is how effort varies depending on how these transcripts are created and translated. In the workflow model, this corresponds to the first part in workflow 5–8 (intralingual) and 7–9 (intra- and interlingual combined). The focus is shifted from the overall unassisted intralingual subtitling processes (chapter 5) to contrasting AIassisted and manual subprocesses, i.e., intra- and interlingual transcript creation with and without ASR and PE of NMT via pivot language.
