The coexistence of different religious communities within a shared geographic space inevitably cultivates a suitable environment where mutual influence permeates across religious and social spheres. The Yezidis and Muslims represent distinct religious communities that coexist within the same geographic region. It is therefore unsurprising to find parallels and shared elements between Islam and Yezidi beliefs, especially when examining religious symbolism, including similarities in terminology. Consequently, a significant number of Muslim scholars have speculated on the Islamic origins of Yezidism. However, adherents of Yezidism vehemently reject any suggestion of affinity between their faith and Islam.
