Yezidi daily discourse and oral history assert that animosity from the Muslim community towards their religious group commenced in the seventh century, coinciding with the advent of Islam in their region. However, extant sources indicate that the earliest documented Islamic fatwā targeting the Yezidis emerged in the 13th and 14th centuries. Subsequently, there is a discernible escalation in the frequency of such fatwās during the 16th century, persisting to the present day.
