Quantitative genetics has provided both the theoretical framework and statistical tools for scientific genetic improvement. Advances in molecular genetics and sequencing technologies driven by the Human Genome Project have enabled the exploitation of genomic information to deliver a revolution in selective animal breeding (Hill 2014).
