The agri-food sector is greatly affected by climate change-related issues, such as droughts, floods, fires, loss of biodiversity, desertification and deforestation. This impacts not only the productivity of the land but also the quality of life and incomes of farmers. The agri-food sector is also partly responsible for exacerbating these issues: farming with practices that degenerate landscapes and soil, negatively impacting biodiversity and further aggravating climate change through greenhouse gas emissions (Hoekstra and Mekonnen, 2012; FAO and UNEP, 2020; Herweijer et al., 2020). However, this negative impact can be avoided by implementing sustainable practices with an integrated farm management approach, encouraging biodiversity, regenerating soils, improving water stewardship, and adopting integrated pest management (IPM), among many other environmentally sensitive techniques (Kremen and Miles, 2012; Garibaldi et al., 2017; Rose et al., 2019).
