Connecting Hyper-V Hosts to Storage Infrastructure
摘要
Few things in the computing world have as much variety as persistent data storage. Fortunately, Hyper-V uses the management operating system to provide storage for its guests. That means that any experience you have with storage for Windows and Windows Server gives you a head start. From the beginning, Hyper-V worked with direct-attached storage, iSCSI targets, and Fiber Channel SANs. Advancements in the Server Message Block protocol (SMB) added low-cost options for remote, high-capacity storage. Persistent Memory (PMEM) brings speed enhancements with a small learning curve. Clustering adds the capabilities of cluster disks, Cluster Shared Volumes, and Storage Spaces Direct, but we wait until Chapter 11 to introduce those.
