Differences in opinion frequently arise concerning the application of DoDAF versus SysML in systems development. This chapter examines the commonalities between the two modeling approaches and outlines key considerations for transitioning from traditional DoDAF views to SysML representations. Programs can effectively leverage both frameworks in a complementary manner. DoDAF is often used by end users and acquisition agencies to define mission objectives, required capabilities, and support operational requirements. Development organizations can then utilize SysML to refine and implement these models within the system design process. Recognizing the appropriate context and timing for migrating between modeling languages is essential for ensuring continuity and traceability throughout the program lifecycle. Overall, acquisition organizations and managers more easily relate to DoDAF and Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) views of the overall architecture while SysML enables detailed design, verification, and traceability at the detail level.

摘要
