Integrating SQL Server 2025 with Microsoft Fabric
摘要
I remember when Microsoft Fabric (Project Trident) was announced at the Microsoft Build conference in May 2023. When this announcement happened, I knew then that our analytic integration solution for SQL Server 2022, Synapse Link, was probably going to be short-lived ( ). I was one of the people at Microsoft touting Synapse Link as a solution for near-real-time analytics for SQL Server using the power of Synapse. The technology was sound, and it worked quite well. However, after spending time talking to customers during the launch of SQL Server 2022, I realized that customers were not excited about the requirement for a Synapse dedicated pool. Dedicated pools are great for powerful warehouse workloads, but in this case, our customers really wanted access to the Landing Zone. The Landing Zone is a storage location where we place the “raw” files (e.g., Parquet) required to send data to Synapse. In other words, our customers really wanted near-real-time analytics from SQL Server seamlessly into a data lake. And thus began the concept of Fabric mirroring.
