In my early days as a UX designer, I attended music hackathons in New York. Spotify hosted some memorable ones. At one event, no one wanted to team up with me, so I went solo. Inspired by YouTube videos of d/Deaf people experiencing music through subwoofers strapped to their backs, I came up with an idea: a feature for the then-new Apple Watch that would vibrate to the beat of a song. I called it Visual Vibrations.
