Historical Building Information Modelling (HBIM) is an approach that combines innovative technology with historical preservation to recreate and document historical buildings. This chapter reviews the definition and concept of HBIM, highlighting its significance in architectural preservation. We will also compare HBIM with conventional Building Information Modelling (BIM) to understand the key differences. Moreover, this chapter will explore the crucial role that HBIM plays in preserving the architectural heritage of buildings and cities and its potential applications through illustrative examples.
