At this point, you may be wondering, "What exactly is DataOps?" Part 1: Introduction To DataOps attempts to answer that question for you, the reader, and to lay a foundation you can build upon as you dive into the world of DataOps philosophy and the #TrueDataOps movement. At the end of Part 1, my goal is to equip you with the fundamental knowledge you’ll need to fully embrace the concepts and methodologies of DataOps so that you can build a robust and comprehensive DataOps workflow. Even though this book focuses on Snowflake and the DataOps.live platform, the concepts you will learn in Part 1 and later in Part 2 can be applied as general principles to any database solution. In fact, I encourage you to take what you learn from Parts 1 and 2 of this book and explore new and innovative ways to apply it to other database solutions. DataOps has much growing to do, and like any toddler, it takes patience, persistence, lessons learned, collaboration, and thinking outside the box.
