Mobile forensics has evolved to become a key player in contemporary criminal and civil proceedings, ESP, and incident response. Mobile devices are digital lifelines—they store communication logs (calls, messages, etc.), personal media (photos, videos), app data, geolocation records, payment data [1], and frequently represent the most important sources of digital evidence available. But pulling, parsing, and presenting that data raises complicated ethical and legal issues. The goal of this chapter is to give a basic introduction of the ethical obligations and legal considerations that regulate the field of mobile forensics. It demonstrates how certain domains of sensitive information must be navigated by practitioners without loss of individual rights, procedural fairness, or admissibility [2].
