As soon as we started using Python as a calculator in Chapter 9, we’ve been making use of the SciPy software stack. IPython, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, SymPy, and Jupyter notebooks—all of these make up a substantial part of the tools created, developed, and maintained by STEM researchers for use by STEM students and researchers. In this chapter and within the accompanying scripts and Jupyter notebooks, we will touch briefly upon some of the functionality within the SciPy software stack, especially as it pertains to working with datasets.
