Responsible AI is a new and nascent field, and the term “responsible AI” has been used interchangeably with the term “ethical AI” in recent years. In this chapter, we’ll look at a brief history of responsible AI and the factors influencing its emergence as a new and incredibly valuable part of AI development. We will also review new global AI regulation and policies from UNESCO to the EU AI Act and a few other global AI policies, highlighting the different principles in each policy and the importance of adopting the recommendations to build AI governance within your organization/project.
