In the preceding chapters, we examined the structural framework of large sociotechnical systems, which are composed of uniformly structured units. These units are classified into two principal categories: integrative units, which coordinate system-wide operations, and operational units, which execute specific tasks. Collectively, these units form the essential building blocks of LSS, each contributing distinct yet interdependent functions to the overall system.
