Given major layoffs at IDEO and IBM and the elimination of design leadership roles at major corporations, it’s not surprising that designers everywhere are worried about their future. Over the years, I’ve seen the role of design in organizations grow, yet the inability to connect design efforts directly to business outcomes often places the value of design under scrutiny.
