Research is defined as the process of learning, advancing, and validating knowledge. To fulfill the purpose of their very existence, libraries are attempting to take on new roles in addition to their conventional ones, which are still in demand. Libraries are creating new services to support research along with resources. Libraries offer a range of research assistance services; research support refers to the help that libraries provide to researchers in improving their scholarly output. In order to adapt the shifts in the research paradigm, all types of libraries worldwide are taking steps to modernize themselves as well as creating and embracing more varied forms of research support. At libraries of higher education institutions, the extent of research support services is expanding and becoming increasingly popular. In India, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are premier institutes. After independence, IITs are among the few Indian institutions which continue to provide the best technological education and conduct research. The current study is an attempt to explore and provide an overview of research support services offered at IIT Roorkee. The results of the study indicates that the library of IIT Roorkee is playing a significant role in supporting research and offering research support services to its user community.
