Change management can be one of the most difficult aspects of library leadership with underlying issues and challenges. The way that higher education library services are viewed, planned, and managed currently needs to radically undergo a change if they are to survive and thrive in the future. This paper aims to discover the crucial challenges in reshaping environment of libraries and identifies the role of library professionals, as how can they manage those challenges in the changing atmosphere and time. Major overhaul in libraries are the need for new or expanded skills and abilities; implementation of new technologies such as computer-based cataloguing, automated circulation systems, and online access to machine-readable bibliographic databases, and the personnel development. Further, rise in students’ expectations and demands have kept most of the library staff on their toes, compelling them to work for longer hours. Continuing education, staff development, and training are significant goals to aim for by any organisation.
