This work addresses why pronominal encliticsEnclitics in Persian dialectsPersianPersian dialects, unexpectedly, are anchored to preverbs of the complex predicates, instead of supposed verbal elements. Rested on (Luraghi, Clitics. In GK Giannakis (Ed), Encyclopedia of ancient Greek language and linguistics, vol 1. Leiden: Brill Publication, 2014):17), we denominated “cliticClitics climbing”, which canonically adverts to the phenomenon of attaching cliticsClitics (mostly in Latin), not to the main verb, but to the non-verbal element. Following the frameworks of “grammaticalization” (Heine, 2003), and “relevance theory” (Bybee, Morphology: a study of the relation between meaning and form, John Benjamins Publication Company, Amsterdam/Philadelphia, 1985), along with an exhaustive probing into 200 Persian complex predicates, this paper will demonstrate that cliticClitics climbing in Persian dialectsPersianPersian dialects occurs through grammaticalization path of light verbsLight verb. This is the process which engenders semantic bleaching of the light verbLight verb and makes it unable to hold the object nearby.
