The Rohingya crisis is one of the biggest global issues of our time, as waves of forcibly displaced Rohingya have sought refuge in Bangladesh and beyond. Nearly one million Rohingya are currently in Bangladesh. Given this strategic positioning and the large number of Rohingya living there, major powers such as the US, China, and India have a vested interest in the region. This article looks at the attitude of these major powers toward the Rohingya crisis and its impact on diplomatic relations with Bangladesh. The US initially took an ambivalent stance, but later put pressure on Myanmar by imposing sanctions and offering extensive assistance to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, including resettlement initiatives within the US. Conversely, China refrained from labeling the Rohingyas in Bangladesh as refugees and regarded them as displaced persons. India took a double-edged approach, initially providing aid and shelter to thousands of Rohingyas, but later taking a harsher stance and labeling them as illegal migrants. This study also shows how the Rohingya crisis has changed Bangladesh’s relations with major world powers.

摘要
