The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly affected migration trends in Southeast Asia and raised critical security concerns. This chapter examines the shifts in migration patterns during and after the pandemic and analyzes their impact on regional stability and security. It examines how economic disruptions, health crises, and travel restrictions have affected both internal and cross-border migration. The chapter emphasizes the need for robust policy measures to effectively manage these changes and ensure the protection of migrants and the stability of host countries. By addressing these new security challenges, Southeast Asia can better navigate its path to recovery in a post-pandemic world. Southeast Asian countries have responded to the pandemic with public health measures, stimulus packages, and accelerated digitalization, among others. As a result, the region’s economic recovery was expected to continue, although the pace of recovery may vary from country to country.
