Elder Abuse in the Indian Context
摘要
This chapter discusses the different parameters of elder abuse as found in the Indian context by taking into account various recent studies. It brings focus on varied dimensions related to prevalence and incidence of elder abuse, reviews some of the responses seen at the national, regional, state, and community level by the government, non-government organizations, and civil society members as well as initiated by older people as a means to tackle the growing problem which is gradually becoming visible among the cross-section of the society. The chapter also reflects on the concept of elder abuse as understood in the country by different stakeholders affected and involved with the issue of elder abuse. It also brings focus on the growing research on elder abuse in the country by researchers and NGOs.
