The academic papers published in these fields share a common objective of devising healthcare policies and plans of action for safeguarding the welfare of the elderly population. The geriatric community differs from its younger counterparts in varied ways, ranging from the way they face physiological and psychological challenges to their adherence to age-appropriate lifestyle patterns and health-promoting behaviors. The chapter intends to identify the health concerns of older persons with reference to empirical studies and healthcare reports that are published in various academic and scientific domains. The authors aim to offer the readers an understanding of the health concerns faced by the global geriatric community as well as offer a critical review of the current healthcare policies that exist to protect the welfare of older people.
