Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) is one of the top vegetable crops in India grown commercially, with almost 90% share of F1 hybrid. In the recent past, high-class genetics of okra have been delivered by seed companies, especially Advanta Seeds, in terms of innovative plant architecture, high combined virus resistance, coupled with excellent fruit quality. New-generation okra hybrids are having very high yield potential, which can be exploited by adopting customized cultivation practices, particularly plant populations in a given acreage. An experiment was conducted with three popular hybrids (Navya-Advanta Seeds, Hybrid1, and Hybrid 2 as checks) in Haryana state to determine the most optimum plant population per acre in relation to the genetic potential of hybrids by trialling in 3 different spacings, namely, 60 × 30 cm, 30 × 5 cm and 30 × 15 cm. The closer row spacing of 30 × 5 cm with 6,66,666 plants/ha resulted in better yield when compared to the other two spacings of 30 × 15 with 2,22,222 plants/ha and 60 × 30 cm with 55,555 plants/ha, respectively. The yield level of hybrid Navya was observed to be 46.74 mt/ha vs. 42.82 mt/ha in Check-1 and 41.14 mt/ha in Check-2. Therefore, it is reported that hybrid Navya yields can be optimum by following the spacing of 30 × 5 cm in Haryana state.
