Natural Ventilation Modeling of Indoor Stadium on a Poly-Hexcore Grid—A Case Study for TNPESU Multipurpose Stadium
摘要
Wind flow in the environment is a ventilation source to players and spectator comfort for the naturally ventilated indoor stadium. Controlling wind disturbance in the play area is also an important factor for sporting without compromising with ventilation. This paper discusses about the influence of the wind direction and surrounding environment in the stadium ventilation and wind flow inside the stadium. In grid generation, the poly-hexcore is used for the efficient and accurate prediction of the fluid physics and high resolution is maintained inside the stadium. Based on the wind rose data, the simulation is carried out in the TNPESU campus environment to predicate the Air Change rate per Hour (ACH) and velocity vector is predicted at the plane height 1.5 m from the ground. The obtained simulation result is verified and validated with a field velocity data where the experiment is conducted using anemometer. From the simulation result, it is evident that the ACH varies between 1.6 and 2.6 h−1 which is insufficient from the recommendation but less wind disturbance for the quality sporting activities where average wind velocity is between 0.7 and 1.7 m/s. This study will be obtained as a best practice for the procedure to predict the ventilation for the sports stadium for the upcoming research studies.
