CFD Analysis on Aero-Acoustics of VAWT (H-Type) with Two Different Surface Cavity Configurations in S1046 Airfoil
摘要
The vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) is suitable to be employed in overflowing population area, where efficient power production and noise regulation are important. Noise regulation plays a major role in urban areas as continuous running noise from multiple turbines can be bothersome to the nearby residents. Hence, in this study, a 2D simulation of H-type (three-bladed) VAWT using S1046 airfoil with two different cavity configurations was investigated. k- \(\omega\) SST turbulence model was used to simulate the flow field employed with sliding mesh motion examined in TSR varying from 2 to 4. The FW-H acoustic model is used to evaluate sound propagation at far field of VAWT. Result shows that S1046 airfoil with single cavity configuration provides considerable gain in coefficient of power compared to the other models investigated at range of TSR. Presence of cavity also provides significant amount of decrement in noise compared to the base model.
