Pellagra is a complex skin disease involving multiple physiological systems and has been attributed to nutritional deficiencies. The insufficiency of two vitamins, namely, niacin and nicotinamide, collectively known as vitamin B3, is responsible for the manifestation of pellagra. Vitamin B3, being a water-soluble nutrient, readily converts into the coenzymes nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) and its phosphate form (NADP+). Extensive research findings have established significant associations between nicotinamide coenzymes and various physiological and biochemical processes as well as disease pathogenesis. These discoveries hold promising prospects for the prevention and treatment of numerous chronic diseases and aging-related disorders.

摘要
