In soil ecosystems, the algal community is essential because it affects a range of biogeochemical processes and promotes general soil health. This chapter sheds light on the diverse effects that algae have on the soil environment by examining the complex interactions between the algal community and soil ecology. The interactions between soil-dwelling organisms and algal communities are dynamic and reciprocal, with both positive and negative effects on soil structure, overall soil fertility, nutrient cycling, and microbial diversity.
