Interlinking Human Health and Biodiversity with Climate Change
摘要
The current global climate change is unpredictable and primarily impacting the planetary health. This happens owing to the cyclic alterations (of abiotic and biotic components) which possess a two-way relationship where global physical activities and biodiversity (social animal health) are largely affected by the induced and initiated anthropogenic activities such as significant greenhouse gas emissions, urbanization, industrialization, and deforestation, resulting in the rise of earth’s temperature by nearly 1.45 °C, which, in turn, is hampering the human quality of life as evident nowadays. Such an unstable climate is highly sensitive and favors the origin, resurgence, and transmission of vector-borne and infectious diseases. Humans must effectively control the scenario by taking preventative measures, i.e., improving our knowledge of the patterns of climate change and the spread of new emerging diseases, as well as allocating resources and technologies in a way that promote healthy lifestyles and public awareness. This chapter will succinctly illustrate and develop the link between global climate change and human health with special reference to the spread of diseases.
