Change in Climate and Its Impact on Biodiversity
摘要
Biodiversity loss and changes in climate are the two most urgent environmental problems that civilization is now facing. With the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Convention on Biological Diversity honing their ambitious plans and targets, the world’s objectives for climate change and biodiversity are about to enter a critical decade. The concerns about climate change and biodiversity have mostly been discussed independently under their respective conventions. Research demonstrates that conservation measures that prevent, delay, or even reverse biodiversity loss can significantly reduce the rate of human-caused climate change. Regarding climate change mitigation, conservation efforts primarily have positive synergistic effects and minimal negative trade-offs. Examples of regional programs for the conservation of biodiversity that can be affected, driven, and given priority by international goals and purposes since these linkages rely on context and scale. The strong connections between biodiversity, mitigating climate change, various benefits of nature to humans, and the quality of life are rarely as taken into account in management and policy as they should be. In support of significant parties convening to set global objectives and strategic frameworks for the ensuing decades, this assessment seeks to underline the critical connections between swiftly mitigating climate change and the protection of natural resources.
