Empowering Communication: An In-Depth Survey on Interactive Avatars for Overcoming Language Barriers and Social Anxieties
摘要
Individuals with minimal skill in spoken English face considerable challenges in communicating effectively, which are sometimes compounded by social anxiety and fear of judgment. Traditional language learning methods frequently fail to create the supportive and judgment-free environment required for confident practice. This survey investigates the creation and use of interactive avatars as novel solutions to these difficulties. Using modern technologies such as text-to-speech (TTS), speech-to-text (STT), natural language processing (NLP), and emotional facial expressions, avatars provide immersive and dynamic learning environments. This research paper demonstrates their potential to alter language learning by offering gamified experiences, enhanced pronunciation, and personalized courses, thereby addressing the constraints of traditional classroom settings. Furthermore, avatars enable authentic conversation in virtual worlds, lowering social anxiety and increasing user engagement. By ensuring real-time processing, contextual awareness, and authentic emotional exchanges, avatars make the user experience more natural and engaging. Despite technical and user problems, ongoing advances in machine learning and multilingual support point to a future in which avatars become more complex, adaptable, and inclusive, promoting a more connected global society.
