This chapter commences with an examination of the contamination of arsenic in the groundwater of Nepal and Bangladesh, offering an encompassing overview. It subsequently delves into the established standards pertaining to arsenic levels in drinking water, followed by an evaluation of the current status of arsenic contamination. Elaboration on the detrimental impacts caused by the accumulation of arsenic on human food chain, impact on mental health, and the adverse consequences of utilizing arsenic-contaminated water used for irrigation is provided. Furthermore, the chapter navigates through a spectrum of technological solutions aimed at ensuring the delivery of arsenic-free water through various viable methods. Incorporating provisions for medical assistance to those affected constitutes an integral part of this exploration. Addressing the proper disposal of arsenic-contaminated sludge originating from arsenic filters and the manifold issue associated with this process stands as another pivotal facet of this comprehensive investigation.
