The trends in the field of hair restoration surgery keep evolving with the application of newer sophisticated equipment and techniques. Today, the two techniques of hair restoration surgery, namely FUE (Follicular Unit Excision/Extraction) and FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) have their own benefits and limitations as a result of which there are different indications for the application of each. Since over a decade, hair restoration surgeons have been preferring one technique over the other and gaining expertise in one of the two techniques. On the other hand, a handful of physicians have mastered the art of the application of a combination technique of FUT and FUE. In this chapter, I would like to put forth my personal preferences and how I perform hair transplant at my practice. Additionally, this chapter compiles the existing literature on the treatment modalities which have only recently been put to practice. Taking a leap into the near future of hair restoration, various research outcomes expected to lead to a breakthrough in the hair loss industry have been discussed.
