The use of gluteal augmentation techniques is growing in popularity among cosmetic surgeons. The two most widely used techniques for buttock augmentation are silicone prosthesis and autologous fat grafting. With an estimated mortality incidence of one in 3448 instances [1, 2], a number of deaths directly related to gluteal fat transplantation have emerged as the demand for fat transfer has escalated. A common procedure that has a comparatively high incidence of implant-related problems, including malpositioning, infection, temporary sciatic paresthesias, seroma, wound dehiscence, asymmetry, capsular contracture, and artificial appearance, is the augmentation of the gluteal region with silicone implants [3, 4]. According to a recent systematic study by Sinno et al., autologous fat grafting has a lower overall complication rate (9.9%) than silicone buttock implants (21.6%) [4].
