With the increase in use of two-wheeler vehicles, the traffic accidents have been reported at an alarming rate each year. Reasons such as not wearing a helmet while riding a two-wheeler vehicle such as bikes or riding the bike while being intoxicated with alcohol are worth mentioning as one of the primary causes of road accidents. Therefore, this paper is initiated with an aim to provide safety to riders. This work is a complete accident detection system that is based on a smart helmet that can identify whether or not the rider is wearing a helmet, determine whether or not the rider is intoxicated, monitor the rider's co-ordinates via real-time position tracking, and recognize unexpected violent jerks to determine whether or not an accident has occurred to notify the rider's relatives and friends via a smartphone application. The helmet comprises Arduino Nano microcontroller, IR sensor, MQ-3 Alcohol Sensor, ADXL-335 accelerometer, Wi-Fi, and a battery module.

摘要
