Health Risk Predictor Analysis to Assess the Impact of Heavy Alcohol Consumption
摘要
The study aims to explore the factors that influence risk alcohol drinking, their relationship and impact on health using epidemiological data. We collected data of 2972 male patients from Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara De-Addiction and Research Centre, Ujire, Karnataka State, India. The data was in raw format, which was preprocessed and cleaned for further analysis. Techniques such as statistical data description measures and simple correlation analysis were used for analysis. From our analysis, there were around 73.2% of patients in the age range of 26–46 years, 34.8% had suffered with at least one adverse childhood experience (ACE) and 27% with at least one problematic behaviour in their childhood/adolescence. Around 77.6% of patients were in very high-risk level of alcohol consumption. A positive correlation was observed between alcohol risk and any one type of ACE and childhood/adolescence problematic behaviour, whereas a negative correlation between the quantity of alcohol consumption and age of alcohol initiation was exhibited. It is also observed that maximum patients who were in the very high risk or high-risk level have developed more psychiatric problem than physiological problems.
