摘要

Native seaweed cultivation to improve growth is an emerging field and an economically important factor for developing countries. To improve the growth and yield of economically viable seaweeds, various age-old techniques are adopted by aquaculture farmers to get a good yield and quality of seaweeds. However, due to industrial development and climate change, the traditional way of doing seaweed cultivation has failed many times. This may lead to the loss of seedlings and a time-consuming process. Instead, good-quality and disease-free seaweed seed development through nanotechnology is increasing attention among research communities. Nanotechnology applications in various fields improve the quality of products and yield. Many evidences are available for nanotechnology using nanoparticle applications in different fields. Recent advances in autonomous underwater vehicles are helping farmers to cultivate seaweeds on a larger scale. In this chapter, nanotechnology-based coatings and materials fabrication and their usage in seaweed cultivation are broadly explained to avoid fouling. Seaweed nets, High-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, ropes, and other materials for seaweed cultivation need more attention for sustainable seaweed cultivation. In this chapter, emerging nanotechnology-based seaweed cultivations and their technological feasibility are broadly discussed.
