Cofiring Technology Concept
摘要
This chapter critically assesses the integration of cofiring technologies in thermal power plants, focusing on cofiring biomass and hydrogen with coal as a transitional strategy toward sustainable energy production. It methodically reviews various cofiring configurations—direct, indirect, and parallel—evaluating their operational efficiencies, technological compatibilities, and environmental benefits. The methodology involves a comparative analysis of emission reductions, fuel usage efficiencies, and technological adaptations required for existing power plants. Empirical data from case studies demonstrate significant reductions in CO2 and NOx emissions, underscoring the viability and effectiveness of cofiring systems. Challenges such as fuel storage, handling complexities, and economic viability are discussed, with lifecycle assessments highlighting the long-term environmental and economic impacts of cofiring. The findings advocate for policy enhancements and increased governmental support to facilitate the broader adoption of cofiring, positioning it as a critical technology in the global shift towards decarbonization of the energy sector.
