Engaging end users in the design process is crucial for designing effective tele-health solutions. This chapter explores the use of photo elicitation, a qualitative research method that uses photographs to capture lived experiences, in a multidisciplinary digital health project involving twelve end users, including six healthcare professionals and six palliative care patients. Through photo elicitation, we identified key visual motifs and themes that highlight the lived experiences of these end users. Photo elicitation enabled the capturing of deep insights into their tele-health experiences. This visual storytelling approach also facilitated a common understanding among the multidisciplinary team regarding end users’ needs and aspirations, promoting a ‘technology pull’ approach to software design. We also discuss the implications for tele-health design, lessons learned, and future research directions.
