Enhancing Travel Planning Through Data Visualization and Machine Learning

Tourism plays a significant role in economic growth, which is evident through the rapid increase in travel demand across the globe. Thus, well-structured travel information is required to avoid chaos. The effective filtering and display of tourist places are crucial due to the wide variety of places, budgets, populations, temperatures, and travel routes. In this chapter, we have proposed algorithms to enhance the mechanism to generate travel information, and the interactive system “Journey Genie” is implemented. It is intended to facilitate dynamic information flow between the system and its users. The “Journey Genie” is a state-of-the-art platform that utilizes machine learning and data visualization to innovate the trip planning process. The program employs refined algorithms and methods of data analysis to compile visual representations of the entire trip data, enabling the user to make informed selections. Owing to various intuitive displays and eloquent recommendations, the user may select their optimal places, events, and paths to create their ideal trip itinerary. The Journey Genie utilizes machine learning to ensure that the platform dynamically produces and updates recommendations based on revised input from the users. This expression is essential in demonstrating the algorithm’s sophisticated potential to transform the travel planning industry as a result of integrating machine learning with data visualization.
