Selecting Best DTN Forwarding Protocol on Trace-Based Mobility Models
摘要
Node’s mobility models remarkably affect the efficiency of Delay-Tolerant Network (DTN) forwarding techniques. Trace-related model is a type of mobility model for nodes, which is based on real-life applications. This chapter intends to investigate the best routing protocol of DTN routing techniques adopting real traces as mobility models with respect to four performance metrics: average remaining energy, delivery ratio, average latency, and average hop count. Along with, MIT Reality, INFOCOM, and Cambridge Imotes are three real traces those are implemented on selected six DTN forwarding techniques: Epidemic, Spray and Wait, PRoPHET, MaxProp, First Contact, Spray and Focus. Opportunistic Network Environment (ONE) simulator is used as the simulation tool in this research. Using ONE simulator, simulations are conducted by extending message generation interval, buffer size, and Time-To-Live (TTL) respectively. From the simulation outcomes, Spray and Focus are selected as the superior protocol on three traces on the basis of average latency and average hop count. Besides, INFOCOM trace in Spray and Focus can be selected with higher delivery ratio. Finally, Spray and Focus along with two other protocols: Spray and Wait as well as First Contact on MIT Reality trace exhibit the higher remaining energy in comparison to other simulated protocol on considered three trace-based movement models.
