Emerging UAV Applications of FSO Communication Technology: A Detailed Review
摘要
Future generation wireless communication networks are anticipated to heavily rely on communications from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Enhancing the devices for wireless communication with no infrastructure is a viable approach. UAVs provide several benefits over terrestrial communications including Line-of-Sight (LoS) connection, dynamic distribution, and changeable reconfiguration. As a result, new opportunities for developing UAV-based Free Space Optical (FSO) linkages have opened way to recent advances in UAV technology. Although FSO is a limited LoS technology, the misalignment of the transmitter and receiver has a considerable impact on it. Therefore, when considering UAV-based FSO communication systems, tracking procedures are crucial. The pointing, attainment, and tracking (PAT) procedures for establishing a solid communication link are covered in this study. Additionally, the various methods for exact configuration between the base station and its connected UAV are reviewed and contrasted, highlighting their benefits and drawbacks. By fusing several concepts, current issues and potential research areas are addressed and incorporated.
