A Grid Configuration to Use Solar Electricity 24 Hours a Day Without Energy Storage

Energy production and consumption is becoming increasingly paramount every day in the modern world. Earth is suffering from the outcomes of vast energy consumption by the modern societies. With the flow of incidences and the rate of global warming, the future of the earth is unknown. It is not a surprise if some of the biggest coastal cities go under the water because of the rising sea levels, all caused by human actions, including inappropriate energy production patterns. There are some realistic carbon-free ways for energy production like the solar-powered electrical energy. The only problem with solar electricity is that the light source, sun, does not shine 24 h a day and after sunset, it will not be possible to produce solar-powered electricity under normal circumstances. To overcome this, use of energy storage systems and batteries have become popular, however, these methods will cause lots of concerns regarding many areas including technical and environmental issues. But there is an alterantive solution that has been discussed recently. There are projects like One Sun One World One Grid (OSOWOG), deserttec, and sahara solar breeder that are all based on one idea, harvesting solar energy from suitable locations with good potentials and transferring them to consumers ‘ locations. Between these projects, OSOWOG seems to be the most promising of them all with one main difference compared to other similar projects; it eliminates the need for power storage systems. This paper will propose, explain and assess this sustainable global energy configuration that leeds to independence from storage systems while benefiting from solar electricity and making modern society closer to the goal of true clean energy production to prevent the current and probable damages to the environment and eliminate its outcomes by clean energy production.
