This chapter explores the convergence of mobile 5G and Wi-Fi access, with a particular focus on the emerging Wi-Fi 7 technology. It begins by examining the technological characteristics of 5G, Wi-Fi 6, and Wi-Fi 7. Following this, the chapter illustrates the framework and architecture of the converged network, which incorporates relevant 3GPP standards. Afterwards, it presents a summary of convergence technologies, including, but not limited to, Wi-Fi terminal device registration within mobile networks, data security, quality-of-service assurance, and seamless roaming between mobile networks and Wi-Fi access. Subsequently, the chapter describes end-to-end network slicing within a converged 5G and Wi-Fi access network. It outlines the requirements and network management scheme for network slicing and analyzes the feasibility of incorporating Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi Mesh technologies into the 5G end-to-end network slicing strategy. Moreover, the chapter delves into the application scenarios of network slicing in the converged 5G and Wi-Fi 7 access network, such as enterprise deployments or campus environments.
