Wi-Fi Industry Alliance Promoting Technologies and Products
摘要
The standards organizations and industry alliances have played a pivotal role in the great success of Wi-Fi commercialization and its wide popularity. First and foremost, as introduced in previous chapters, the IEEE 802.11 committee serves as the cornerstone for Wi-Fi technology specifications. Then, the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) offers testing and certification services, ensuring that wireless products from suppliers adhere not only to the IEEE 802.11 standard but also emphasize interoperability, security, user-friendliness, and the advancement of innovative technologies. In the telecommunications sector, the Broadband Forum (BBF) views Wi-Fi as an extension of broadband access, defining specifications focused on effectively managing Wi-Fi within home networks. The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), with participation from numerous renowned operators and manufacturers, actively engages in discussions on market demands and commercial advancements in Wi-Fi. This chapter provides an overview of the contributions made by the WFA, BBF, and WBA.
