In this chapter, we explore the possibility of education with Hannah Arendt as passing on the world to the new generation against the background of the present condition, due to the number of refugee and migrant children we are confronted with, of a plurality of worlds. As teachers, we must deal with many culturally contextualized renderings of the world. In such circumstances, the question arises how we still can think of education as introducing newcomers to the common world? We first discuss two positions that are dominant in the existing literature (and in educational policy): the stances of integration/inclusion and of hospitality, respectively. As the former is widely and rightly criticized, we focus on the latter to show that it results from confusing ethics with education. Moreover, we show that both positions make similar assumptions regarding the relation between migrant and refugee children and the heritage to be passed on to them. From there we try to develop a truly educational response to the matter by theorizing a third position: educational generosity. This stance requires, however, acknowledging the contingency and violence essential to education.
