Currently, India’s EV supply chain relies heavily on imports of raw materials and components, with most electric and electronic parts sourced from abroad, while metal components and other aggregates are domestically produced. The chapter also explores the export of component items from India. As noted in Chap. 2 , key minerals essential for batteries are imported, with China dominating the supply of crucial battery materials such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese. This dependence on imports underscores challenges in building a self-reliant EV ecosystem in India.
