Wind Speed and Direction Measurement Method and System Based on Cylindrical Pitot Tube Array

Wind speed measurement constitutes an indispensable part of the online monitoring system for power transmission lines, providing vital information to ensure the safety, stability, and efficient operation of these power transmission lines. To accurately measure the wind speed and direction near power transmission lines, a cylindrical pitot tube array wind speed and direction measurement method based on the principle of cylinder wake flow has been proposed. According to the distribution pattern of the pressure coefficient on the surface of the cylinder when wind flows around it, a cylindrical six pitot tubes array structure has been designed, and a pitot tube array wind speed and direction measurement system is developed. The designed Pitot tube array anemometer is deployed in natural environment and its measurement data of wind speed and direction was compared with the high-precision Three-cup anemometer's. The results showed that the Pitot tube array anemometer measured wind speed and direction with high accuracy, thereby validating its suitability for engineering applications.
